DON GIOVANNI

Concept:
Don Giovanni is an INCEL, a self-centred, "sex-addict" and narcicist who just thinks about his own longings & lusts - and WHO actually (and against his will) does not have sex. He flees into a past in his mind, that neither no more longer exists nor he was ever part of: 18th century late baroquen times were treating women as objects and subordinating them on their looks was common. Women are just objects of lust and serving, other men do not exist in his mind. He is the "ultimative alpha" talking to his conscience alter ego "Leporello".

The whole opera is set in Don Giovannis mind and women are represented in his "view" of them - a sexually idealized baroquen fashion with most of the womens underwear and breasts visible. All men in the opera are invisible or have covered faces (as Don Giovanni blends them out).

The scenography has a dreamy but bordelle-esque aesthetic consisting of elements and panels that are from textile, resembling matresses. These elements would slowly further and further into the opera move closer towards Don Giovanni, decreasing his space of action and slowly revealing the rubber-room esque location he actually is in.

While people will get more and more dressed throughout the opera, Don Giovanni & Leporello start in an identical over the top glamorous costume and slowly start to dress down, loosing layers going through 6 phases of dressing down. Leporello will keep his shoes and red socks on throughout the changes while Don Giovanni is bare foot from the start. Leporello will stick to his costume #5 while Don Giovanni will go through one more phase of undressing ending up naked. Their costumes are a mix of Baroquen influences and ribbon & belt elements linking to "Straight jackets". In the end Don Giovanni is getting settled not by the Men of Stone but by his doctor. There is no need to put him in hell - he already is.
